Districts targeted

India's Commerce Ministry is planning a significant export promotion drive, identifying around **500 districts** in its first phase to boost exports, with a specific focus on Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs). Discussions at a recent Board of Trade meeting highlighted plans for dedicated MSME support, including sector-specific quality testing labs, certification aid, and logistical subsidies. The initiative also restarts the Interest Subvention Scheme for MSME exporters, offering a **2.75%** annual interest subsidy on rupee export credit, capped at ₹50 lakh per financial year. This granular approach aims to shift export concentration beyond established centers and empower new, smaller businesses to access global markets.
